The London Debre Genet Holy Trinity Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is currently conducting its election for new Parish Council Administration Committee members, also known as Trustees. This important process is a key aspect of church governance, allowing members to have a direct say in the administration of their spiritual community.
This year, as in the previous election, the church is utilizing an online voting system. This method has been praised for its efficiency, as it simplifies vote counting and ensures the anonymity of voters, thereby maintaining the integrity of the election process.
Nominations for Trusteeship were accepted from church members on Sunday, July 7, 2024. The actual election will take place on Sunday, July 21, 2024. In preparation, registered members were sent individual notifications using the contact details on file. The church urges any member who did not receive this notification by Sunday, June 30, 2024, to reach out to the Election Committee. Members can update their contact information by completing a short form [https://www.dght.uk/election2024/missed-voter] or by emailing the committee directly.
According to the church’s constitution, each couple (husband and wife) is entitled to one vote each. Members are encouraged to ensure that their spouses have received the election notice and to notify the Election Committee if there are any discrepancies.
The church community is reminded of the importance of participating in this process, not only as a civic duty but also as a spiritual commitment. The church leadership asks for prayers and participation in both the nomination and election phases, underscoring the collective responsibility in guiding the church’s future direction.
