Celebrating Ethiopian New Year at Delina

Date & Time:
September 13, 2024 @ 6:00 am - 10:30 pm
Cost:

£15

Join us for an Ethiopian New Year’s Party at Delina, within Shepherd’s Bush Market! We’re hosting a lively celebration with a full Ethiopian feast, featuring the famed Doro Wot (spicy chicken stew) served with injera. Wash it down with traditional drinks, and don’t miss the rich, aromatic Ethiopian coffee. There will be Ethiopian music and dancing to keep the night alive, with festivities to warm your heart. Whether you’re familiar with the traditions or curious to experience something new, this is the perfect way to celebrate with good food, drinks, and joyful company. Everyone is welcome!

Ethiopian New Year (Enkutatash) is celebrated every September, marking the start of the Ethiopian calendar year. It coincides with the end of the rainy season and the blossoming of bright yellow Adey Abeba flowers. On this day, the number of daylight and night-time hours are equal, adding to its symbolism. The celebration extends over a week with family feasts, bonfires, and heartfelt wishes for prosperity in the new year.

Each tickets includes, food, music, dancing and a complimentary soft drink.
