About Tikur Anbessa

Tikur Anbessa refers to the Black Lion that Ethiopia is so specially connected to. The supergroup quartet, features musicians from The Krar Collective, The LAJ Trio and Flotsam Orchestra. The focus of the music is a new spin on many traditional Ethiopian folk, jazz and pop songs, using the instruments of the Azmari genre (traditional drinking/ party style).

Tade will perform an astonishing display of traditional vocals along with participatory dance moves that everyone, Ethiopian or not, can get involved in! The contains strong elements of comedy, ballads and high energy dance numbers.

Pay What You Feel Tickets

We try and offer a Pay What You Feel ticket option for events where possible. To keep in line with our core values, we acknowledge the financial barriers some people may have. By offering this tiered pricing structure, it allows people to select the amount they feel comfortable paying, ensuring our events are accessible to all. Ticket prices range from £0 – £10 so just select the amount you want and can pay; if money is tight, go for a small donation or even a free ticket. If you’re able to pay a bit more, this will contribute to the artists’ fee and allow us to continue offering this price structure, keeping our events and activities affordable for everyone. And if you can pay even a bit more than that, you might just be buying a ticket for someone else!
