Following the launch event for Desta Ethiopia (charity number 1194896) in November 2022, Berwick church is hosting an Ecumenical Service which will include chanting and prayers from the Ethiopian Orthodox tradition. Father Abate and participating priests and deacons of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church will attend.

This will be followed at 12.15 by a buffet lunch in the church with an Ethiopian vegan menu.

After lunch there will be a short presentation regarding environmental protection around Ethiopia’s Churches and Monasteries, stemming from their theology. Following this, there will be a presentation from Desta featuring their current work in the context of ongoing conflict, particularly in the north of the country. Their video presentation conveys something of the spirit of resilience and positivity of the people.
