Join Woin Tegegn for a culinary journey through Ethiopian cuisine in this hands-on masterclass, hosted by Made In Hackney. Woin, known for her expertise in vegan Ethiopian dishes, will guide participants in creating a variety of traditional meals, all plant-based and inspired by her rich heritage and extensive travels across Ethiopia.
In this class, you’ll learn to prepare classic dishes such as Ethiopian Selete Fit-fit, Kei Miser Wat (spicy lentil stew), Alicha Kik (split chickpeas stew), Gomen (collard greens), and Karia-Sinig (stuffed jalapeno), all served with traditional Teff Injera. Additionally, you’ll discover how to make Ethiopian Flaxed Juice, Selete Bowl (Sesame Seed Candy), and Aromatic Ethiopian Kimem Shaye (Spicy Tea). The recipes emphasize the unique blend of earthy, spicy, and aromatic flavors characteristic of Ethiopian cuisine.
Woin’s journey from IT professional to chef reflects her passion for cooking and her dedication to preserving and sharing her cultural culinary traditions. Her work with Ethiopic Kitchen and various community classes has made her a beloved figure in the culinary scene.
This masterclass not only offers an enriching culinary experience but also supports Made In Hackney’s charitable mission to fight hunger. Participants will receive a take-home recipe pack to recreate these dishes, and all proceeds help fund the organization’s community programs.
Tickets for the class are priced at GBP 100 per person. For more information or to book your spot, contact classes@madeinhackney.org or visit their website.
